Portraits

This is my boyfriend. He usually hates getting his picture taken, but he was a good sport and I told him I would fail if he didn't help :P

Basically I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I tried the rule of thirds, different lighting, different perspectives, playing with eye contact. I always pictured portraits as sitting still, straight on photos, like school pictures. I liked experimenting with this.

  1. I love these photos. They are unique. You are right abotu what you put in your post on our discussion board. I always thought that portraits were those school looking photos that no one liked to take. But you can get creative in this. It reminds me a little like when senior portraits come out and each person picked a photo that represented them and felt comfortable.
    Nice work!

  2. i like the silhoutte in the sunset photo, it is mysterious and fun. i see you also like black and white. I think for portraits black and white gives the subject a better look.

  3. I have to agree with Alyssa, the silhouette shot is probably the best of them all. But, that is my opinion and only one of many. I am so psyched to see that you are applying what you've learned so far to these shots. Nice move, telling him he would fail without this. This is really great work.
